Selection Process:

To ensure that I have chosen the best photos for my final piece I chose to pick my top three photographs of each model and then pick the most successful one of these to become part of my final piece. I chose the best photo by deciding which photograph most effectively met the brief of sun, fashion and architecture. The final photo of each set is the one in which I have chosen to use for my final piece.

Model One: 

 

I have chosen to use this photograph in my final piece as I believe it is most successful at meeting my brief. The sun is subtle within this photograph but is evident as it highlights the model's face and clothing. The architecture of an abandoned building is effective as it has different textures and colours but due to the degradation, this colours have become muted and therefore do not create a distraction from the model, the main subject of the photograph. The angle of this photograph is successful in allowing the viewer to see the entirety of the model's clothing - the use of a quite large aperture of f.10 allows for all aspects of the photograph to be focused on, therefore allowing all details of the outfit to be on display.

Model Two:

I have chosen to use this photograph as part of my final piece as it successfully shows the three aspects of my brief: sun, architecture and fashion. The positioning of the model is effective as it allows the whole outfit to be on display and draws attention to the details of the outfit, for example the rings. This also helps to show the sunlight within the photograph as the harsh light creates shadows behind the model, on each step. The architecture is also effective as the neutral colours allow the model to be the main feature of the photograph but the details such as the railing frame the model.  However this edit of this photograph is slightly too over saturated and the yellow tint has been applied too strong therefore when editing this photograph for my final piece I will ensure that this does not occur. 

Model Three: 

This model produced the best overall set of photographs however I chose to this photograph as each aspect of the model's outfit is visible, unlike in some of the other photographs. I believe the positioning of the model shows the playful nature of fashion photography and reminds me of the style of photography in magazines such as Teen Vogue and Cosmopolitan. The architecture in the composition is effective as it creates a contrast with the model this is mostly due to the pastel colours of the wall compared to the bright colours of the model's outfit. The sun within this photograph creates harsh light producing detailed shadows of the model's hair onto her face, this is successful in creating interest in the face but at the same time, not allowing the face to become a distraction from the clothing.   

Model Four: 

I have chosen to use this photograph as part of my final piece as it is successfully displays the three aspects of my brief. The sunlight is the most interesting in this photograph (compared the other three in my chosen set) as it is sporadic due to the shadows produced by surrounding buildings. This is effective as it highlights the different types of architecture shown in the photograph, it also emphasises the texture of the building. The model's positioning is very casual however I think this fits the portrayal of men as young and relaxed within street fashion photography. The clothing in this photograph is not as effective as the other model's as there are no patterns, I found that the fashion element of my brief was easiest to achieve when the model wore pattern as they stood out against the background of the photograph.
